PHP Security Warning: What It Means for Our Customers
    Short answer
The BSI warns of two critical PHP vulnerabilities, with security updates already available. For our usual Lovable applications without PHP and websites hosted normally on Webflow, we see no direct need for a PHP update of your own. Operators of WordPress, TYPO3 and other PHP systems should have their host check the update status immediately. External services need a separate assessment, independently of the main website.
Updated: 22 October 2026. This short message explains the current PHP security warning and what it means for your website.

    What happened?

Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) warned of two critical PHP vulnerabilities on 21 October. PHP is technology used by many websites and online shops. Under certain conditions, attackers could exploit these vulnerabilities to run unauthorised code on a server. Security updates are available and should be installed immediately on affected systems. The warning does not mean that every website has already been attacked. [1] [2]

What does this mean for our customers using Lovable?

As a Lovable Partner, we develop websites and web apps with Lovable. Our usual application setup does not use PHP. Our own Maluure website also runs without PHP. For this setup, our assessment is that the current warning creates no direct need for a PHP update of your own. [8]
This assessment concerns the individual application, not a blanket security guarantee for the platform provider. An additional WordPress blog, a separately operated shop or another external service may use PHP independently and needs its own assessment.

What about our customers using Webflow?

As certified Webflow experts, we also look after websites on Webflow. With a website hosted normally on the platform, you do not maintain a PHP installation yourself. Webflow does not support server-side PHP in its custom code areas. We therefore see no direct need for a PHP update of your own for these websites because of the reported vulnerabilities. [7]
The same distinction applies here: external booking systems, shops and separately hosted applications are independent systems. Our assessment does not replace checks of those services and is not a comprehensive all-clear for every Webflow system.
    Kernaussage
For our usual Lovable applications without PHP and websites hosted normally on Webflow, we see no direct need for a PHP update of your own. Whether additional services are affected depends on their technology and operator.

WordPress, TYPO3 and other PHP systems: arrange a check now

We only rarely look after WordPress, TYPO3 and similar PHP systems. If you operate one, the warning still matters: Ask your hosting provider or responsible IT service provider immediately whether the security updates have been installed. Not every installation is automatically vulnerable, but unpatched PHP systems require urgent action. [2] [5]
    SystemWhat matters now
WordPress, including WooCommerceHave your host check PHP and update it if needed. A WordPress or plugin update alone is not enough.
TYPO3, Drupal, Joomla and other PHP applicationsConfirm PHP security updates with the responsible operator.
Self-hosted MatomoCheck the analytics system’s PHP installation too, not just the main website.
WordPress explicitly explains that these vulnerabilities are in PHP, not WordPress itself. Matomo also calls for a PHP update for self-hosted installations. [5] [6]
    Website and underlying PHP system
Updating a website does not automatically replace the hosting provider’s security update.

    What can you do now?

    1. Identify the system: Does your website run on Lovable, Webflow or a PHP-based system? Are there additional shops, blogs or other services?
    2. For PHP, contact the operator: Ask for confirmation that both reported vulnerabilities have been fixed.
    3. If you are unsure, contact us: We can help identify your website’s setup and the right person to contact.
You can send your host this short message: “Please check whether our website and other PHP applications are protected against CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, and confirm their update status.”
In the event of a security warning, the specific installation counts: what technology is running there, who is responsible, and is the patch verifiably active?

    Frequently asked questions

What does the PHP security warning mean for my website?+
What matters is whether your website or an additional service uses an affected PHP installation. Your host should check the update status immediately.
Do I need to act for a Lovable website?+
For our usual application setup without PHP, we see no direct need for a PHP update of your own. Separately connected PHP services must be checked independently.
Does a Webflow website need a PHP update?+
With a website hosted normally on Webflow, you do not maintain a PHP installation yourself. External services and self-hosting need a separate assessment.
What should WordPress and TYPO3 operators do now?+
Contact your host or responsible IT provider immediately and ask for confirmation of the PHP security updates. A CMS update alone does not fix these PHP vulnerabilities.
Can an additional service such as Matomo be affected?+
Yes. Self-hosted Matomo uses PHP and must be checked separately, even if the main website runs without PHP.
Who can help if I do not know which system my website uses?+
Contact Maluure. We can help identify the setup and the responsible operator.
